Alta

Alta is located at the intersection of the sea and Finnmarksvidda. This geographic area has, since the Stone Age, been a meeting place for several indigenous people groups. They have built their common history and future to master the rugged arctic environment.

 What I like about Alta?

Alta is a modern town situated in the Alta Fjord and near the Finnmarksvidda plateau. It offers an incredible range of outdoor activities that I can enjoy all year round, from mountain biking and hiking in the summer to skating, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, cross-country skiing, and tour skiing in the winter.

Alta's strategic location in the heart of the Arctic makes it a convenient gateway to Norway, Sweden, and Finland, with its own airport offering daily flights to and from Oslo.

The winter landscape in Alta is breathtaking, with the added beauty of the Northern Lights. The glittering fairyland of white, pink, green, and blue hues is truly amazing, especially when the first golden rays of sunlight hit the mountaintops after the long polar night.

Alta is a place where the Arctic is quite literally on everyone's doorstep. This accessibility to the Arctic nature is one of the things that I love most about living here. Even starting from the city it's possible to venture into the high plain area of Finnmarksvidda, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, as well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
